Diamond mining works by modulating the pressure and water content of the Live Resin or extraction. Diamond mining can be pressurised to 10 Bar, but there is also a desiccant chamber that can be opened and water can be extracted from the Live Resin while the system is under pressure. Live resin often contains a large amount of water because the extraction takes place with frozen plant material. The water prevents crystal growth.
It often takes a month or more to grow crystals. With Diamond Mining, we can achieve crystal growth in 14 days without any pressurisation! A big part of this is the removal of the water from the live resin while it is in the system.
Diamond mining can operate pressurised or non-pressurised. When pressurised to 1-2 Bar, the system can grow crystals faster in approximately 3-4 days compared to non-pressurised. Pressurisation with nitrogen causes nucleation to occur faster and therefore create diamonds more quickly. To make larger diamonds, the system can be operated lightly pressurised with hydrocarbons if kept in a C1D1 environment.
How the diamond miner is operated depends on the desired end product. We anticipate that most operators will want to manufacture small/medium sized crystals and make them as fast as possible. As such, the best way to operate the Diamond Miner is either unpressurised or pressurised to 1-2 BAR with industrial grade nitrogen. Diamond Miners can withstand significantly higher than 1 BAR, but there is no significant benefit in pressurising with nitrogen or hydrocarbons above 2 BAR. The unit is made of stainless steel and pyrex, and has a safety valve so it cannot be over pressurised. It has gauges so you can make sure the system is sealed and has a desiccant chamber to remove water. Finally, the system itself is tall and slim. The height actually helps the crystals to form by creating more pressure at the bottom of the unit and leaving a volume in the headspace that is less than the volume of the oil. This makes it easier for crystals to precipitate, which decreases completion time.
- The 300ml Diamond Miner has an ideal Live Resin size of 2,200g. It can accept operations between 900 g and 2,200 g, but to create the most ideal headspace, the operation size should be as close to 2,200 g as possible.
- The 700ml Diamond Miner has an ideal live resin run size of 4,500g, but can accept runs between 2,200g and 5,400g.
